Go Hiking!

Among the countless activities available, hiking stands out as an exceptional way to immerse yourself in nature’s beauty and embrace adventure. A place for everyone is Sleeping Bear Dunes in Traverse City. The Dune Climb offers plenty of pure, wind-blown sand for your climbing pleasure. The Dune Climb is located about 5 miles north of Empire on M-109. For those who are looking for a closer trail, we recommend something like the Blue Heron Lagoon Trail.  So, lace up those tennis shoes, grab your picnic cooler backpack, and get ready to explore the outdoors! 


Go paddle boarding!

Paddleboarding serves as an easy relaxing activity to take on this summer as individuals or in a large group. Paddleboarding provides a unique blend of tranquility and excitement that allows you to connect with nature.  Launching from a sandy beach and beginning with some basic paddling tips, spend one and half hours on Walled Lake.  Grab your inflatable paddleboard and plunge into the clear lake before we paddle back into the sunset. 

Go Climb Trees!

What would kids love more than climbing things?  The Tree Runner outdoor park in West Bloomfield is the perfect place to take an adventure. Not only do they offer an unforgettable day of challenges, but they also have night activities such as Glow Night. A special event is held at Tree Runner Adventure Parks where the park is illuminated with colored LED lights and music, creating a unique and exciting nighttime climbing experience. It’s a fun and memorable way to experience the park after dark, especially with this colorful hip pack.


Go Float Down a River!

Cast a line and unwind while you experience the joy of summer fishing. On a few Saturday and Sunday summer mornings, Johnson Nature Center offers family-friendly fishing.  Participants have the option of bringing their own equipment, like these lures or borrowing from what the Nature Center has to offer. Enjoy a morning of fishing with family and friends.
