Spring Cleanse

When I think about Spring, I think about flowers blooming, budding leaves, and of course the smell of fresh air. Spring provides a sense of starting over again. It allows us to want to go “out with the old and in with the new”, inspiring us to purge, cleanse, and organize. And what could be better than the ultimate Spring cleanse?

Every day I am fed information on how to settle a restless mind, shed pounds, de-clutter, and on and on. The possibilities are endless. Below, I have shared a few benefits I have experienced, whether it was cleansing my body, my mind, or even my personal office.

Our minds:

After months of hibernation and eating comfort food during the shorter and darker days, I always feel a cleanse can be a great kickstart to increase my energy levels as well as help revitalize my body. Three years ago, I decided to give up candy, which I struggled with terribly (I hid it in my car, my office, a secret stash in a kitchen drawer, and even packed a sandwich bag full for lunch). My girlfriends and I agreed to have a healthy vacation, as we all wanted to feel our best going into Spring. We chose Medical Medium’s Cleanse to Heal protocol. During that week, we drank fresh celery juice, made liver detox smoothies, had no caffeine or alcohol, and followed a no-fat, very specific diet. It was the best thing I could have done. I felt incredible, filled with natural energy and satiated from healthy food. I have not had a piece of candy since (though I do have dessert). I have learned to listen to my body and to refresh when I start relying on too many comfort foods.

Our Bodies:

Mental and emotional well-being are always important, no matter what time of year it is. However, when I think about cleansing this Spring, I also think about doing a mental health check, asking myself a list of questions.

Am I focused?

Am I present?

Am I self-aware?

Do I get worked up easily?

And of course, many others. I have mentioned in previous blogs I journal and meditate each day, which has helped tremendously with clarity and decision-making.  Because I keep a fast-paced schedule, there are times when I feel overwhelmed and wonder if I will be able to accomplish half of what is meant to be completed. This Spring, as part of my cleanse, I am going to lean on what I have learned in one of James Nestor’s books, Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art to incorporate breathing techniques to feel balanced and calm.

PERSONAL SPACE

Is there anything better than the cleansing of a personal space?

This could be your office, your closet, your kitchen, or your car. I cannot think of a Spring where I have not cleaned out several rooms in my house and when the task has been completed, I feel amazing!  A good friend of mine, Leslie Schoenberger, came to GACO’s office last Spring and organized our upstairs storage space. After completing her magic, everything in the space from samples to extra packaging materials was systematized. I realized after she was completed,  the office’s mindset was lighter and created a space needed for better productivity.

These three points are only the tip of the iceberg on ways to cleanse and of course what personally resonated with me at the time. There are many practices to discover to find what best works for you.

I know that all of us at GACO cannot wait for the arrival of Spring and to step into the season with a renewed sense of vitality and joy!

We can't wait to work with you
